Wayang Wong is a traditional Javanese form that incorporates Javanese aesthetics, ideals, and cultural understanding. It is a form that places emphasis on attaining the essence of the character with ease and elegance. This year, the training of Wayang Wong took place over a period of nine weeks starting July 2025. There was equal focus on singing, speaking and movement aspects of the form. The students will present excerpts from Wahyu Makutharama, a classic Javanese text largely inspired by the Mahabharata.
The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session with master teacher Pujiyani offering insight into ITI’s immersive learning process.
