"Where the hand goes, the eye follows
Where the eye goes, the mind follows.
Where the mind goes, the heart follows.
And thus is born expression."
This ancient Sanskrit slokam is the heartbeat of Kutiyattam, one of the world’s oldest surviving theatre traditions. Every flicker of an eyelid or delicate curve of a finger tells a story.
Join us in bearing witness to an art form that has lasted for almost two millennia. This presentation offers a rare glimpse into the different stages of Kutiyattam training, featuring a demonstration of the rigorous exercises and performance excerpts that prepare an actor for the stage.
