
Rhian Hiew is a Malaysian actor and theatre practitioner from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, currently based in Singapore. She is an alumna of the Intercultural Theatre Institute (ITI), Singapore. Her artistic practice is grounded in physical theatre, clowning, and embodied performance. She received formal clowning training at the Helikos School in Padova, Italy, and has trained in Indian classical dance (Odissi), as well as with the Suzuki Company of Toga, Japan.
Rhian has self-produced and directed a devised theatre work, ROMEI, exploring the dialogue “Culture is the key to life and death” in Singapore. Her creative and performance experience includes original theatre-making, community-based platforms, appearances at Esplanade’s Flipside Festival, and collaborations with Undercurrent Theatre Company (Australia) and The Art Workers (India). Her ongoing research explores embodied performance practices and the dialogue between traditional forms and contemporary storytelling.
